Booking is now open for ‘Dialogue of Friendship: Living Together in Diverse Communities’, a day conference being organised by the Sanctuary in Faith Stream, in partnership with the Church of Ireland Interfaith Working Group.

Date: Saturday, 20 May, 10.30 AM – 3.00 PM

Venue: Irish School of Ecumenics, Trinity College Dublin

This conference and networking event will highlight stories of interfaith and intercultural friendship and collaboration, and encourage faith communities to engage with the Places of Sanctuary Ireland network. We look forward to a day of encouragement and inspiration!

The keynote speaker will be The Revd Dr Stephen Skuce, currently Superintendent of the North Western District for the Methodist Church in Ireland. Dr Skuce has previously worked with the British Methodist Church in a number of roles including Director of Research, Director of Global Relationships and Academic Dean at Cliff College. He served as a mission partner in Sri Lanka and his published work includes The Faiths of Ireland (Columba, 2006).

The first panel session of the day will highlight two ‘Good News’ Case Studies: the ‘Birds with Wishes Project’ and the ‘Tullamore Welcome Centre’.

The second panel session of the day will look to ‘Relating Across Diverse Communities’, with panelists:

• Fahmeda Naheed. SALAAM project Coordinator for Doras ( a human rights organisation in Limerick). She is contributor to Garda Review magazine and is a member of the Ethnic Minorities Domestic Abuse Observatory. She is an Ambassador of Schools of Sanctuary and a tutor of Fusion cooking (Irish- Pakistan food) with Cork City Partnership.
