Places of Sanctuary Ireland is the all-Ireland organisation within the City of Sanctuary movement which aims to create a culture of welcome and hospitality for asylum seekers, refugees and vulnerable migrants. It has now spread to more than 90 towns and cities across Great Britain and Ireland.
We work closely with City of Sanctuary UK and share a website as well as many resources and practices. We are not officially affiliated to Sanctuary Cities in US and Canada nor to Welcoming America. However, in these times of uncertainty when the basic values of safety and welcome for refugees and vulnerable migrants is under threat from the US administration, we wish to state publicly that we share their values of providing welcome, safety and sanctuary and we have sent messages to them as a show of solidarity.
